LINXS Event - Amyloid Workshop - Heart and Mind: linking in vitro science to the clinical context

Much research is focused on understanding the basic biology of amyloidosis and how it relates to disease etiology. Integrative structural biology approaches provide unique interdisciplinary tools in tackling this very complex and challenging problem, but many crucial questions remain. The workshop will address the synergies and conflicts of technology (reduction) and biomedical complexity (integration)

LINXS event - Time Resolved Structural Biology – Seeing the structure of motions

This workshop will cover different aspects of studying the molecular structure of biological macromolecules using time-resolved experimental techniques or computational methods - What can we learn? What method is best for a certain question and how do they complement each other? The workshop aims to broaden concepts of time-resolved structural biology and it will encourage discussion between the participants.

LINXS Event: Welcome to afternoon coffee and a seminar by Prof. Richard Neutze from Gothenburg University

Richard Neutze took his PhD in Physics in 1995 from the University of Canterbury (New Zealand). He was introduced to molecular biophysics at Oxford University (England); completed a postdoc at Tübingen University (Germany); and then moved to Uppsala University (Sweden). In 1998 Neutze became Assistant Professor at Uppsala University and he moved his group to Chalmers University of Technology in 2000.  In 2006 Neutze was appointed Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Gothenburg. He has worked on the structural biology of aquaporins; bacterial rhodopsins; photosynthetic reaction centres; and time-resolved diffraction and time-resolved wide angle X-ray scattering studies of membrane proteins, using both synchrotron radiation and X-ray free electron lasers.
