Call for Postdoctoral Research Fellowships within the Nordic Neutron Science Programme

Aim of the call 
The aim of the call is to promote a new generation of Nordic neutron scientists and specialists through training at the European Spallation Source (ESS). Providing support for the next generation of Nordic neutron scientists and specialists is essential to develop long-term capacity-building, mobility and excellence. Funding is available for groups that are new to neutron scattering techniques as well as established neutron experts.  

Background for the programme 
The European Spallation Source (ESS), presently under construction, will provide world-class neutron scattering capabilities for the first time in the Nordic region. A broad range of Nordic research communities will have the opportunity to take full advantage of the scientific potential of the ESS.   

To achieve this, NordForsk has established the Nordic Neutron Science Programme (NNSP) in collaboration with the Swedish Research Council, the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research, the Research Council of Norway and the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation. The total programme budget is approximately NOK 60 million. The current call is a one-time action under this programme.   

Available budget  
The total funding available under this call is approximately NOK 6 million. Applicants are invited to apply for a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. The maximum amount that may be sought is NOK 1.5 million per project. 

Expected project start-up is spring 2021 and the project duration is maximum two years.
