Professor placed at the Medical Faculty of Lund University in a tri-faculty appointment together with the Faculties of Science and Engineering. 2000-2022 I was on secondment to the Partnership for Structural Biology at the Institut Laue Langevin (ILL) in Grenoble, France, where I hold a Senior Fellowship and am Head of the Life Sciences Group. I was appointed to a personal Chair in Biophysics in 2004. Prior to that I was a Lecturer and then Senior Lecturer in Physics at Keele.
The main research interests of my group concern the study of macromolecular systems using physical techniques. Neutron and X-ray scattering techniques at the Institut Laue Langevin (ILL) and the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) are central to this. Current project work includes structural studies of DNA, DNA-drug interactions and DNA-protein complexes, self assembling systems of synthetic and biological origin.
We are also deeply involved in methodological developments for neutron and X-ray scattering. The Integrated Macromolecular Structure Research Group is based at the Partnership for Structural Biology (PSB) in Grenoble, France, where a wide variety of techniques are available to complement the capabilities of the Grenoble central facility infrastructures.
