NNSP Summerschool

THE 2021 NNSP SUMMER SCHOOL IS GOING TO BE HELD VIA ZOOM

NNSP (Nordic Neutron Science Programme) contains an annual summer school about neutron scattering for in particular 1st year PhD students.

The goals of the school program are to attract new students and scientists to all fields of neutron-scattering and to facilitate student networking and collaboration between the Nordic universities.

The school is aimed as an introduction for starting Ph.D. students and covers an introduction to neutron scattering, with the topics

  • Principles of scattering and neutron instrumentation

  • Diffraction

  • Small-angle scattering

  • Reflectivity

  • Imaging

  • Inelastic scattering

  • Quasielastic scattering

  • Magnetic diffraction and inelastic scattering

  • Use of polarized neutrons

  • Neutrons at ESS

  • The Grand Societal Challenges addressed with neutrons

The school will take place from 20 October to 05 November 2021 (13 days).
We also offer optional introduction days on 14-15 October on basic wave physics and the use of complex numbers for students not familiar with these concepts.

If you wish to participate, please send an email to Gitte Michelsen (nnsp-adm@nbi.ku.dk) indicating the following:
- Full name
- University
- Research area
- Position
- Reason for participation
- Whether or not you wish to participate in the introductory days

After we have received your reply, you will receive a confirmation mail together with a link to zoom.
