Robert Häggblad, Manager R&D Catalyst at Johnson Matthey.

Dr Häggblad is the Manager of the Catalyst R&D group in Johnson Matthey’s Formaldehyde Business. He received his PhD degree in Chemical Engineering at Lund University in 2010 for a study on mixed metal oxide catalysts for selective oxidation and ammoxidation. He joined Johnson Matthey as an Associate Specialist the same year and has proceeded his career within the company since then.

Mature chemical processes may have an important role to play as the chemical industry transforms into a more sustainable future and formaldehyde in particular will be an increasingly important building block in the chemical industry. By using advanced characterization techniques in combination with lab, pilot and full scale performance testing, we can obtain the fundamental understanding of the catalysis that is required to push the limits even further to enable developing sustainable catalysts for the future.
