Integrative Structural Biology Working Group Time-Resolved member, LINXS fellow
Gabriela did her PhD in serial crystallography (SX) with Ilme Schlichting at the MPI for medical research. She performed numerous SX experiments at XFELs and synchrotrons, many of which were pump-probe time-resolved experiments. Her main experimental expertise is sample preparation and sample delivery. The former includes batch microcrystallization of water-soluble proteins and crystallization of membrane proteins in lipidic cubic phase, whereas the latter includes injection techniques and fixed target approaches. In her opinion, currently one of the biggest experimental challenges in SX is the identification of appropriate optical laser excitation conditions in light-activated ultrafast time-resolved experiments.
