LINXS is moving to The Loop in Science Village in early 2025

LINXS will move into new purpose-designed premises in The Loop building in Science Village in Lund in early 2025. The move marks a significant development in the operations of LINXS and its mission as an institute for advanced studies. Its new location will place the institute adjacent to ESS and MAX IV, and within an area of prime scientific real estate, just as a wide range of academic centres, institutes, and companies are planning their moves onto Science Village.

– Our move will allow LINXS to expand its activities and extend and deepen national and international engagement. The new premises will have excellent workshop/conference space that can house up to 100 people. It also contains many work rooms and spaces that will be ideal for more informal discussions and meetings, says LINXS Director, Professor Trevor Forsyth.

The Loop was chosen after an extended tender procedure based on LINXS’ vision to be a powerful hub for science and innovation, dedicated to advancing collaboration, societal impact, and cutting-edge research. The building also houses Science Village Hall – which seats 1000 people, making it ideal for larger national and international events, as well as concerts.

The Loop’s position right in the middle of Science Village, along with the close proximity to the MAX IV and ESS large scale facilities, are vital components for the development of LINXS’ future operations. It also represents an important milestone for the institute, since the move will support the LINXS missions to create stronger national and international networks, as well as maximising the collaborative exploitation of the facilities to the benefit to all scientific disciplines.

– Having LINXS placed so near ESS and MAX IV will facilitate a closer and deeper collaboration with the facilities, and provide a neutral work space for national and international guest researchers whether just visiting, undertaking experiments or analysing data. It will also provide versatile meeting and conference space for national and international events, says Trevor Forsyth.

– We also see the new LINXS premises being heavily exploited by young researchers, the PIs of the future, who will chart next generation science at the MAX IV and ESS facilities.

LINXS will move into the third floor in The Loop, with flexible options for meetings, workshops and individual work spaces, providing an attractive interdisciplinary environment in the Science Village. The largest conference room will host up to 100 people and can be divided into two smaller rooms for parallel events. The new location also has access to two balconies, providing additional space for activities on warmer days.

LINXS will inaugurate its new premises in the middle of June 2025 with an exciting two-day event! The event is open to all researchers and organisations with an interest in X-ray and neutron research.
