Workshop - Northern Lights on Food III, June 1-3 2022

The Northern Lights on Food collaboration supports basic and applied interdisciplinary food research by enable researchers in the food field to take full advantage of the new research tools provided by Large Scale Research Infrastructure (LSRI); ESS and MAX IV in Lund. Our aim is to enable the development of the food of the future through greater understanding of the basic structures and dynamics of food, its raw materials, and components. Northern Lights on Food was established more than three years ago jointly by industry, academia and LSRI. The effort was triggered by the need to tackle the key research challenges required to transform the current food system so that future production is sustainable and environmentally friendly, and the food we eat improves our health and well-being. Last year Northern Lights on Food became a theme within Lund Institute of Advanced Neutron and X-ray Science -LINXS.

Despite the pandemic, we have seen a large increase in the interest to join and promote the NLF idea. During the last year we have thanks to support from the Skåne region, Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth, EU European Regional Development Fund, Vinnova, The research and innovation council of Skåne (FIRS) and LINXS, being able to strengthen our activities that started with support from Formas. We are moving forward and are proud to announce the third Northern Lights on Food Conference, June 1-3 2022 as a live event in Lund. This year we have the pleasure to welcome a range internationally well-renowned researchers coming in person from around the world from Los Angeles to Sydney. They also represent interdisciplinary research needed to tackle the challenges, but also the opportunity the food sector faces. The conference addresses challenges concerning the whole food sector from agriculture, food technology, processing and engineering, environment, medicine and nutrition, as well as the consumer and society.

You are all very welcome to join us in Lund for an exciting and inspiring 3 days together!

On the behalf of the NLF team!
