“The science days are a key component to developing the LINXS community and to facilitate the identification and development of connections across our network”
LINXS organises twice-yearly science days to gather its themes and working groups. The aim is to bring research fields and working groups together to promote interaction between and across themes and topics, and to advance scientific questions relating to x-ray and neutron science. The most recent, the Winter Science Day, took place in February.
During the day, LINXS working groups presented their research, with a focus on the scientific activities in the past months and their perspectives for the coming year. LINXS current guest researchers, Chris Garvey (The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation), Professor José Campos Terán (Metropolitan Autonomous University) and Stefano Mezzasalma (Ruđer Bošković Institute), also presented their work, as did LINXS post-doc Anurag Kawde.
– The winter science day marked a step forward in our development of the LINXS community, with a focus on the science developing in the different themes and working groups and clear interactions can be seen to be forming between researchers from across LINXS, says Stephen Hall, Director of LINXS.
– It was also a great to hear from our visiting fellows and hear more about their science here at LINXS and back at their home institutes. The science days are a key component to developing the LINXS community, and to facilitate the identification and development of connections across our network. The concept is still young and we look forward to developing the science days with the community to maximise the benefits of greater interaction between researchers from diverse backgrounds, concludes Stephen Hall.
