Event Summary - The future of chemistry with MAXIV and ESS
Satellite event to the 1st Swedish Chemical Society meeting, 20 June, Lund
On 20thJune LINXS celebrated midsummer with a special symposium on “The future of chemistry with MAXIV and ESS”as a satellite to the Swedish Chemical Society meeting. The symposium brought together Lund-based researchers, from the university, MAXIV and ESS, and researchers from further afield, both academic and industry, to discuss how MAXIV and ESS might be employed in chemistry related research. The discussions were animated by 4 guest speakers covering a spectrum of chemical sciences:
Prof. Regine von Klitzing (Physics at the Technical University Darmstadt)- Surface sensitive Neutron Scattering for Studying Structure and Dynamics of Polymer Coatings
Prof. Lise Arleth (Niehls Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen) - Investigation of membrane proteins under solution conditions using X-rays and Neutrons
Paul Shearing (University College London)- X-ray imaging methods for batteries and electrochemical devices
John R. Bargar (SLAC lead PI,Stanford )- Multi-technique synchrotron investigations of complex biogeochemical systems
Lively discussions during during lunch and coffee breaks were continued with a midsummer-themed reception.
